Who we are
Vej Cà Matta farm has been property of the Maschi family for four generations. The first was Giovanni Maschi, known as Gianò, originally from Campagna di Pradovera; he left in the early 900s to seek his fortune in America and, once back home with a considerable sum of money, he bought first a small farm in Mezzanello di Travo and then the Vej farm in Rivergaro some years later.
Now Gianò’s great-grandsons, Claudio and Michele, with the help of their father Gianni, work the land, which consists of 10 hectares cultivated using certified organic methods.
In 1998, together with their mother Rita, they opened their agritourism and called it “L’Urteia”. This word and its declensions (ortaia, urtaia, ort, etc..), in the local piacentino dialect, express the cultivation of vegetables, which has always been one of the main productions of the farm.
Since then, guests from all over Europe have come here to enjoy the local specialties, prepared from traditional recipes passed down from mother to son.
The Maschi brothers are happy to host travellers and to make them feel at home in this peaceful and relaxing setting with its rustic country style and homely atmosphere. An oasis of organic agriculture
All the buildings, rescued from the restored old stables and barns, are surrounded by large green areas where the guests can pass their time peaceful.
There is a playground with slides and swings where parents can take small children, while older children can run free, enjoying themselves with a ball in the grassy fields.
The whole place is located in the countryside, with its colours, sounds and fragrances. An oasis of organic agriculture astutely cultivated using sustainable methods.
